Bentham Town Hall has been a feature of Station road and the town of High Bentham for many years.

Through the ages the building has been modified to suit the requirements of the day.
Noticeable changes took place in the 1900’s and then again in the 1940’s.

The most recent change took place in 2004,
when the hall was closed for 6 months to undergo extensive refurbishment.

The majority of works incorporated were to comply with the new Disability Discrimination Act.
This saw an 8 person lift fitted to access the upper floor and disabled toilets added.
The steps at the entrance in from the Station Road were also removed to provide a level access.

During these works the lower floor was altered to incorporate a home
for the tourist information and the town clerk,
as well as the function room for the ever popular coffee mornings.

The upper floor modifications consisted of a new fully equipped kitchen.
New toilets were also installed.

A full rewire took place and a new central heating system was added.
The clock tower was fully rebuilt to allow its ever noticeable chime
to continue for the next century.
