Town & Country Planning
Town and Country Planning is about the management of competing uses for land and buildings, and creating places that are valued and have identity.
North Yorkshire County Council is responsible for managing the county development control function, dealing with all planning applications for minerals (e.g. quarries, oil and gas sites) and waste (e.g. landfill and recycling) developments and the County Council’s own development (e.g. schools, libraries, and highways).
All other planning applications, such as those for houses and businesses, are managed by district and borough councils. As Bentham falls within the Craven District please see Craven District Council – Planning Services for more information.
